Global Tech Giants Canva to Headline Tas Tech Fest 2025

One of the world’s giant tech success stories Canva will headline the 2025 Tas Tech Fest – Tasmania’s ultimate showcase of trends in technology.

Co-founder of Canva, Cameron Adams and his wife Lisa Miller, founder of eco-tech startup Wedgetail will open Tas Tech Fest on 26 March 2025 at Wrest Point Function Centre.

Canva is one of the true success stories of the Australian tech industry – having expanded from an online graphic design start up in Perth in 2013 to a world-wide creative phenomenon with more than 170 million active monthly users in 2025, and an estimated market value of around AUD $41 billion.

Since its inception, Canva has had a strong social justice calling – in 2019 Canva joined Pledge 1%, a campaign to pledge one per cent of time, product, profit and equity towards good in the world.

Canva signed the Climate Pledge in 2021 and created other campaigns since.

Mr Adams and Ms Miller have a strong connection with Tasmania – the eco-tech start up Wedgetail launched in Tasmania, and aims to inspire land regeneration and contribute to the Global Biodiversity Framework’s ‘30×30’ Target which calls for the protection of 30 per cent of the world’s land, waters and seas by 2030.

In central Tasmania, Wedgetail is using tech solutions such as drones to produce orthomosaic images that help land regeneration decisions. Wedgetail also aims to finance nature-positive endeavours to accelerate land regeneration.

TasICT’s Tas Tech Fest is the premier industry event for the technology sector and brings together the latest technology trends, innovation and insights.

The involvement of Cameron Adams and Lisa Miller will shine a light on the unique qualities of ‘Tassie Tech’ which increasingly uses Tasmania’s clean and green reputation to pioneer technology and projects that can help solve some of the world’s most pressing problems.

The day-long event includes presentations from companies covering tech industry development, workforce development, advancements in artificial intelligence and cyber security, and includes the Tasmanian Government ICT Industry Summit. More information will be released in coming days.
