Work underway to make online Government transactions easier

Tasmanian Government Media Release

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to making it easier for Tasmanians to access the Government services they expect and deserve.

That’s why we’ve invested $4.3 million in the 2021/22 Budget to begin development of a digital ‘myServiceTas’ portal, to provide Tasmanians with a single, secure and easy-to-use access point for Government services.

Today we are taking the first step towards delivering this initiative, by going to market for a provider to build the first stage of the ‘myServiceTas’ portal which will allow Tasmanians to create a secure account to access their digital services.

Initially, the portal will make it easier to undertake a range of Transport transactions, such as checking or renewing your drivers licence and registering a vehicle. The portal will also provide a range of tools to assist government departments to enhance the range of services that can be offered online.

Information on the procurement will shortly be available on the future opportunities section of the Tasmanian Government Tenders website (tenders.tas.gov.au), and be open to responses from early April. We expect the successful tender to be announced later this year, with this first stage of the digital portal coming online in 2023.

Additionally, in July this year we will launch a brand new Service Tasmania website, to make it faster and easier to access and connect to the range of online services.

The network of Service Tasmania store fronts across the State have for many decades been at the forefront of delivering government services to Tasmanians. Service Tasmania service centres will remain in place for Tasmanians who prefer face to face transactions and personalised assistance.
